How To Recreate This Morgan Annie Look: Smokey Eyes, Red Lips

Morgan Annie Smokey Eyes Red Lips

This is a dramatic, sexy, luminous look that you can easily recreate. I like to start with the eyes, as they set off the look, and as an awesome makeup artist tip, if you start with the eyes, it’s much easier to clean up any excess shadow that’s fallen on your face before you apply your foundation!

EYES:

1) Firstly apply Morgan Annie Eye Primer and allow this to become tacky. (This takes about 1-2 seconds).

2) Apply Morgan Annie Glow to lower lid blending upwards towards brow bone.

3) Apply Morgan Annie Taupe eye shadow on the outer third of eye and blend in towards inner eye.

If you want more depth, apply more layers gradually, dabbing then blending as you go..

4) Use the Morgan Annie Black eyeliner pencil on bottom and top lids and set the pencil with Smokey Black or Earth Eye Shadow for a softer look.

EYEBROWS:

Your eyebrows frame your face and complete your look. I love using eye shadow to fill in the brows, it creates a soft, defined look. I use Taupe for fair skin, and Earth for dark tones.

After you’ve completed your eyes and brows, chances are you’ve got a mess of fallen eye shadow on your face!

I learnt a great tip from Rae Morris: use Huggies nappy wipes (the green packet) to clean up any fall out you have on your face and around your eyes. They are gentle and have no fragrance.

FACE:

We’re going for a luminous, glowing, translucent look, so begin with Morgan Annie all natural Primer. 1-2 pumps are that are needed.

This takes 2-3 seconds to dry.

Then apply Morgan Annie Glow above the cheek,  up and around to the brow bone. This highlights the areas on your face where light hits, and creates that luminous glow.

Finish off your base by applying  the Morgan Annie foundation that best matches your skin tone, for sheer coverage 1-2 layers and for full coverage 3-4 layers.

BLUSH:

I have used Warm Bronze. Use the puffer to dab the blush in your face, and carefully blend it as you go.

LIPS:

The lips are the hero in this look, and we are going for a dramatic, sensuous, statement lip!!

Passion Red is THE colour! You can use the Plum Lip pencil or the Pink Mahogany lip pencil to line your lips before applying lipstick.

EYES:

Finish off your smokey, sexy, sensuous look with a few coats of mascara. The Morgan Annie all natural Mineral Mascara is just perfect for this, conditioning, and thickening your lashes, and adding length and definition. Prime your lashes first doing 1-2 coats using the white end of the mascara. When it’s dry apply your mascara.

6 Things to Avoid So Your Mineral Make-up Doesnt Age Your Skin

6 Things To Avoid So Your Mineral Makeup Doesn’t Age Your Skin

Mineral Makeup is often marketed as the healthy and safe alternative to traditional makeups. In fact, many of us have tried mineral makeup in the hopes of achieving that beautiful, airbrushed, translucent glow…

Mineral Makeup is a fantastic product, and testament to this is how all of the big companies are jumping on the Mineral bandwagon.

You can achieve that feather light, flawless coverage. You can have the amazingly bold, luscious colours, and you can have all of the health and anti-aging benefits of mineral makeup, if you use 100% Pure Minerals

What you may not be aware is that many large commercial brands are actually TOXIC. And the chemicals in the cosmetics will just reverse the benefits of any good ingredients…

As the cosmetics industry has very little regulation, many consumers are being misled and tricked into buying what they feel are beneficial products, when really, they’re cheap, toxic, damaging cosmetics.

There are no rules around what is needed in the product to label it mineral make-up, so chemicals and fillers are still be used which cause skin irritations and wrinkles.

Here are 6 things you MUST be aware of when selecting your mineral makeup brand.

1. You get what you pay for. Often the cheapest brands use unnecessary chemical fillers, such as talc to give you a bigger pot of makeup for less money. The trouble is, these chemical fillers are really bad for your skin, and can actually age you!

2. Say NO to Bismuth Oxychloride- this is a bi-product of lead and is a known skin irritant, associated with rosacea and redness in your skin. Commercial brands often use Bismuth Oxychloride to create the pearlescent looking makeup. [1]

3. Say NO to Dimethicone- a synthetic silicone emollient which coats and clogs the skin. This ingredient can actually age your skin, is associated with some types of tumors and if you sweat, is a known skin irritant! [2]

4. Say no to Talc – Talc is a cheap filler ingredient, which may be contaminated with other more toxic chemicals. Studies have also linked Talc to ovarian cancer, when it is used intimately.

5. Avoid Mineral Make-up companies using nano particle technology. Often called “micronized” ingredients, these ingredients are absorbed into your skin, rather than sitting on top of it.

6. Avoid Kaolin Clay, another cheap filler ingredient this is drying on the skin.

Mineral make-up should be good for the skin, it should nourish it and improve your skin condition.

If you choose a makeup brand that is 100% pure,  safe minerals,  you will notice the difference both when you’re wearing the makeup,  and in the condition of your skin in general.

Get your glow on!

How Morgan Annie Products Give You Luscious Lips.

How Morgan Annie Lip Products Give You Luscious Lips

We are all being made aware of what isn’t good in our cosmetics, but what about the good stuff in our beauty bag…
For me it started with the lips, (Realizing about chemicals in make-up came later) As a makeup artist, putting lip liner and lipstick on dry chapped lips frustrated me, and I thought there had to something more hygienic and gentle to exfoliate the lips than using your old toothbrush!!

So from here I started researching ingredients that I wanted in my lip products with the main goal in mind i wanted to hydrate and nourish the lips not only on the outside but ingredients that will penetrate thru the layers of our skin.

A smooth, moisturized base to apply your lipstick to means it will last longer, make your lips appear younger, and will help prevent your lipstick feathering and bleeding.

Morgan Annie Lipsticks and glosses include one of my favourite ingredients; Shea Butter.  Shea butter is a slightly yellowish or ivory-colored fat extracted from the nut of the African Shea tree. It’s widely used in cosmetics, but often in products that are laden with artificial and chemical ingredients.

Morgan Annie Products are made with pure minerals, and don’t contain the harmful chemicals that many commercial cosmetic brands do.

Here’s why Shea Butter helps us create such luscious lip products.

  1. Shea Butter has Anti-Inflammatory properties.
  2. It’s an excellent moisturizer and it eliminates dry, tight feeling skin
  3. Provides natural UV protection ( isnt enough to solely rely on without other protection
  4. It’s a non-occlusive agent, so it doesn’t clog pores, it’s actually absorbed into the skin, nourishing it.
  5. Softens, heals and hydrates skin by preserving the water content of the epidermis
  6. Creates a lubricated feeling of smoothness (without the use of petroleum which actually just sits on top of your skin, preventing it from breathing.)

Moisturised, smooth, kissable lips look younger, feel better, and really finish off your makeup look. And considering that they are often the first feature people notice on our face, don’t you deserve to make the best impression?
